Further Details

The Pit is a 3rd person hack and slash game, heavily focuses on arena fighting, that takes the classic roman gladiators setting to a post-apocalyptic era. The player will incarnate a fighter that risks her/his life in post apocalyptic gladiatorial games, battling against merciless blood-thirsty adversaries.

Fight in dangerous arenas full of death traps, use a vast collection of post apocalyptic melee weapons (modified butcher knives, sledgehammers or chainsaws), long range weapons (crossbows, nail guns) and firearms (semiautomatic pistols, shotguns).

"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."
Albert Einstein

Several years after the last world conflict, which almost erased all the traces of humanity, civilization has collapsed, and a cruel and brutal society in which only the fittest survive has emerged. In this inhuman world, in which each region of the earth is ruled by a different clan, ancient traditions and rituals have risen. Now, a clan's glory is measured only thing: his giant combat domes and the strength of his warriors.

In the fashion of the Roman Empire, there are combat arenas all around the world, called Pits. In there, slaves, gold-thirsty soldiers of fortune, ruthless mercenaries and professional fighters searching for the glory in battle fight until they win or die

Gameplay
There are two single player modes: Tournament and Challenge. Tournament the player will choose a gladiator as avatar, and will conquer all the different arenas all around the world moving from an oil platform in the North Sea to the Madison Square Garden of a post-apocalyptic New York.

Challenges will put to the test the skills of the player in different combat scenarios: Last Man Standing, Waves of Enemies, and Poisonous Combat (two gladiators fighting to death for the antidote of the poison they've been injected with).

Multiplayer mode: up to 2-4 offline and online players, versus and coop modes. Downloadable content included as well, as explained below.

Combat
Attack, block and counter attack - the combat in The Pit is based in the right combination of combo sequences to maximize the damage caused to your enemy, as well as blocking or dodging the attacks of the enemy to minimize the damage suffered. There are several tactics added to this basic system. These includes counter attacking after blocking an enemy's attack, or performing special movements like stunning blows or defence breaking charges to leave the enemy unprotected. The combinations of these tactics will raise the gameplay of our game to a higher level.

Keep yourself alive!
Survival is one of the mechanics that differences The Pit from other fighting games. Being a survival combat, the victory won't be the reward for mindless button mashing, but for the clever use of tactics, counter attacks and health recovery.

Each hit taken will drain the health bar of the gladiator, but some special attacks will open bleeding, that will cause damage over time in the gladiator. To cure these wounds, the gladiator will have to use his medical kit. And in order to perform that action, he'll have to knock out the rival, giving him some time to bandage himself. The use of skills like applying poison or notching the weapons, improves the strategy component in The Pit, making the game unique.

  • Classes:
There are three classes of gladiators, each one with his specific and unique characteristics:

The Berserker: The strongest gladiator, which has the ability to enter a rage state to deliver extremely powerful blows. He's an expert in double-handed weapons and recovers life at a slow rate.

The Brawler: The most balanced gladiator. He's the most resistant to damage, but his attacks are less powerful that the Berserker. He's an expert in two-weapon combat and recovers life at a medium rate.

The Scavenger: This class is for those who suffered a mutation due to the radioactive rain caused by the chemical weapons of the last world conflict. They are the quickest but less resistant gladiator, but his moves are fast and deadly. He's an expert using his dirty fight skills and recovers life at a fast rate.

    Clans:
The affiliation will be the kind of clan of which the gladiator belongs. There are different clans all around the world, each one with his particular lool.
